Yep, you read that correctly. I indeed saved $685 a year by switching my cell phone provider. I was an avid AT&T customer for over 17 years, literally was AT&T this and that. But one day, last year in 2024 I came across a post about switching over to a “prepaid” plan versus contract.
It took me months to complete my research, and eventually I took that leap of faith and switched.
Yep I cancelled AT&T!!!
I’ll say what really drew the line for me switching, was AT&T recently had a breech but they also disconnected all 7 of my lines on accident. My entire family was without service for a full day. I reached out to the arbitration department and they handled it (immediately).
But let me back up, I came across this prepaid mobile post while on Facebook in one of my money saving groups. They mentioned services like T-Mobile prepay, Mint and Visible by Verizon. I looked at them all, I mean looked looked, like Reddit and such. Mint and Visible had the best reviews. However, I’m familiar with Verizon and as most will say, they have the best service. Although, they’re using Verizon cell towers, it’s not the same lol.
So as you read, I tried Visible by Verizon. They offer a two week trial to try their service, using your phone # (or they can provide you a number). It was really easy to set up and try it out. During that period, I drove to areas where I don’t usually get cell service.
Now my house, I never get service unless I'm connected to Wifi. So I started there, and it was the same as AT&T (in my opinion). But I drove to a dead zone in my area, which is Knightdale, NC and y'all, I had service. I was shooketh (Lol)
Once my free trial was up, I encountered the AT&T issue that I mentioned early on, and then switched services to Visible.
So let me tell y'all this… I was paying $115 a month with AT&T. It did not include a hotspot or anything. Plus that price included my teens phone. If you minus her service, I was paying $95 a month (not bad). So monthly for 7 “lines” after discounts my family paid $350-$400 a month. WHEW, that’s $4,800 a year. The GHETTO.
When I switched I chose the annual plan and pay $395 a YEAR!!! That includes my smartwatch service, international passes (service), AND a hotspot.
Let me break it down again, look below to compare the costs and services included.
AT&T
—————————
$95/month
Unlimited Data
Smartwatch line
$1,140 a year
Visible + by Verizon
-—————————
$35/month
Unlimited Data
Smartwatch Line
Hotspot
12 International Passes
$395 a year
ARE YOU SOLD YET?!
Oh wait the bad/con about Visible by Verizon… not much...
Roughly 5 drop calls. But that was literally it.
No family plans. You’ll need to each open your own account.
If interested in Visible by Verizon, you can port your current phone # and bring your device, which I've done both. You do it all on your own and from the comfort of your home. Listen if my mom that’s over 63 can do it, you can too. Customer service is amazing and they respond quickly if you need them!
You can also choose between their three plans.
Visible is without the smartwatch and international passes. $25/month
Visible + includes the same as standard service, but faster speeds, and 12 international passes. $35/month
Visible + pro includes the smartwatch, and 24 international passes, $45/month
They offer monthly annual plans/payments. I did the annual plan because I never have to worry if my phone will be in service or not! Plus for any person coming from a traditional contract to a pre-paid line, I highly recommend the annual plan. Mess around and forget your payment, your phone will be OFF!
Please note I’m grandfathered in and get the same service as Visible + pro for the Visible + price.
Oh lastly, you get to use discount codes to get $20 off your monthly or annual plan. Yep my brother paid $5 for his first month and I got a $20 credit to redeem off next annual renewal. Or if you’re a monthly subscriber you get it off your monthly purchase.

Would you pay $275 for your cell phone service a year? I would, in 17 years I paid AT&T over $19,380 in cell service only. This does not include the device costs.
If you're ready to make that switch and pay $275 (- $20), use my code (3S9WJCM) to claim $20 off your first month.
